I expect that most of the people who come here, have a clue for what is a roleplaying game, such as pen&paper roleplaying games. For those who do not know about this, click here.

Also I expect that most of the people who come here know about me from my most famous addiction, MultiMUD which is a MUD. For those who already know what a MUD is, go on and read on in the next paragraph.
A MUD, which means "Multi-User-Dungeon" is the net-found version of interactive roleplaying games, not like those Computer-roleplaying games like "Indiane Jones" or such, but something which allows you much more different ways to go to achieve the aims your character most probably has. A MUD is a place, where you can meet other people and chat, but mostly it is thought to be a place where to roleplay. A MUD is a Program (written in "C" mostly) which runs on a constantly to the internet connected computer-server, and allows access to it from all over the world, just by using a simple telnet programme. Most of the currently existing MUDs are text-based, that means you won't find much graphics there, but descriptions of what your character sees when coming e.g. into a room. The probably biggest problem with MUDs is that they are extremely addicting, so if you did not yet started mudding, think twice before giving it a try. It is now two years that I am mudding, and I tried to stop with it more than once - but never succeeded, as it is such a nice place to flee from the real live, which endangers you constantly, and is not that comfortable than the well-known "Mithrandir", that character, whose name is stolen out of J.R.R. Tolkiens "Lord Of The Rings" character "Gandalf", whereas "Mithrandir" is the elvish name for him.

For me, as already mentioned, the MUD is a place to flee to, and not a place where arguments should be taken to, nor a place where hatred should appear at all. I am aware of the fact that there are arguments appearing in the MUD, but most of them do not derive from personal feelings, but from the character's view. And although these feelings from the character's view become personnel after some time, it still is a place to retreat to from the real live world. And I know that there are some players playing there only to insult others, and to annoy them, and to disturb them, but we (the Gods there) try to get along with them, threatening them with sitebans and character deletions.

I am quite happy that we are allowed to punish those who disturb the others, so we can take care, that the MUD stays a place where you can go to recover yourself a bit from the daily scars reallive is making.
